How long has ISSI been in business?

The company was formed in 1989. Specializing in the land down under, the company has shared Australia and New Zealand with thousands of American youth.

Who is eligible to compete?

The competitions are open to all high school athletes.

What does the package price cover?

The package price covers all international and domestic airfares, taxes, sight-seeing, transfers, hotels, tour escourts, two meals a day, uniform, team photo, travel insurance, tournament fees, and entry into the parks and attractions as listed on your itinerary.

How much spending money should I take on the tour?

Through surveys, our program participants have reported to us that they have taken $500 to $800 on the trip. Of course, the amount needed depends on personal spending habits.

What do I need to send in with my deposit?

If your are registering by mail, send your completed Participant Application Form, Uniform Order Sheet, and $350 non-refundable deposit to ISSI. Credit card payments are accepted. Checks should be made payable to International Sports Specialists, Inc. or ISSI.

Are donations for the trip tax deductible?

No.

How much money can we fundraise?

You can fundraise as much as the full package price for the trip plus passport costs and lunches.

Can my $350 deposit be refunded if I decide not to go on the trip?

No. Please refer to the application form for more detailed information on cancellation refunds and the accompanying terms and conditions.

Do I need to have special immunizations in order to travel down under?

Immunizations are not required for entry to Australia or New Zealand. You should check with your health care provider or local health department for their recommendations on any shots.

Are we chaperoned while we are on the trip?

Yes. Safety is our number one priority. During your journey down under you will be chaperoned by state coaches, and/or assistant coaches, and our tour escorts. In addition, ISSI has company representatives on the ground in Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii overseeing all aspects of your journey.

How much luggage can be taken on the tour?

Two pieces of luggage may be checked, plus you may have one carry-on bag. No single piece may exceed 50 lbs. Some domestic carriers may charge you an extra fee for luggage when checking in.

Can we use frequent flyer miles to reduce the cost of the trip?

No. Due to the group nature of the trip, frequent flyer miles cannot be used, nor can we accept any discount coupons or other air travel awards. Please save them and use them for other travel.

When will we receive our final itinerary?

Final itineraries, along with flight schedules and detailed information on the areas you will be visiting, will be sent to you three weeks before your depature.

Will there be any scouts at the games?

No. ISSI is an independent business.

Are there any educational benefits associated with this program?

Each athlete has the opportunity to earn academic credits by participating in the Down Under Sports program. See the University Credit page or details.
